Kilo Code with OpenCode Go: 400 "Request is missing x-opencode-session and cannot be routed efficiently" (MissingSessionID) — update to 7.5.12+ for chat and 7.7.4+ for memory, roll-call and prompt enhancement
Since OpenCode Go began requiring a per-conversation session header (announced for 2026-09-05), requests from Kilo Code to `opencode-go/*` (or OpenCode Zen) models fail with HTTP 400: `Error from provider (Console Go): Request is missing x-opencode-session and cannot be routed efficiently.` (`type: MissingSessionID`). On older builds every chat request fails. On 7.5.12–7.7.3 chat works, but every turn close shows `Memory error · ... missing x-opencode-session` (400 MissingSessionID) and the memory feature is unusable with OpenCode models; `kilo roll-call` and prompt enhancement fail the same way. Separately, since 2026-09-18 06:30 UTC some accounts see the same text as a recurring toast in the VS Code extension while chat works: title generation, commit messages and other small-model tasks routed through `kilo-auto/small` fail.

What didn't work
- Updating to 7.5.12+: fixes chat, but memory consolidation still sent no header until 7.7.4
- Searching the CLI log for `x-opencode-session`: the log records only `AI_APICallError: Bad Request`; the header text appears only in the toast/response body
Root cause
OpenCode Go routes each request to the node holding that conversation's prompt cache and reads the conversation id from the `x-opencode-session` header; requests without it are rejected with 400 MissingSessionID. Kilo's opencode-derived request path stopped sending OpenCode provider headers; PR #13752 restored them for the main session requests (reported fixed in 7.5.12). Kilo-specific entry points that call the model directly (memory consolidation in `kilocode/memory`, `kilo roll-call`, expand-prompt) bypassed the shared request preparation and still sent no header until PR #14015 (released in 7.7.4). The `kilo-auto/small` failure is server-side: for some no-balance Kilo Gateway accounts the auto-small tier appears to be served through OpenCode Console Go, and the gateway's forwarded request lacks the header (reporter's analysis; replaying the same request with curl to the gateway returned 200). It is not fixed by updating the client.
Solution
1. Update the Kilo Code VS Code extension or kilo CLI to 7.7.4 or later, then reload the window or restart the CLI. The VS Code extension runs its own bundled kilo CLI, so updating the extension updates the CLI it uses. 2. If chat works but you get a toast with the same error during title generation, commit-message generation or prompt enhancement, check whether the small model is `kilo-auto/small` (the default "Auto Small"). The reporter's workaround, not yet confirmed by others: set `"small_model": "kilo-auto/free"` or an explicit model (e.g. one of your `opencode-go/<model>` ids) in `~/.config/kilo/kilo.jsonc`, or under Settings > Providers > Small Model (Kilo-Org/kilocode#14307, open). 3. Other errors from the same provider are different problems: `OpenCode's free tier can only be used from within OpenCode` (403 FreeTierError) is a provider policy, and `Invalid upload request` (400) is not caused by the missing header. 4. Any other client or proxy that calls OpenCode Go has to send a stable `x-opencode-session` value per conversation (and its own user agent); see opencode.ai/docs/go.
Evidence
https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/issues/13723 (opened 2026-09-03 by the operator of OpenCode Go; 14 comments, 68 reactions). A Kilo contributor stated the chat path is fixed in kilo >= 7.5.12 (https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/pull/13752, merged 2026-09-03). A user on 7.5.16 reported that the memory path still failed with 400 MissingSessionID and confirmed the follow-up fix https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/pull/14015 on a local build (merged 2026-09-17, in release v7.7.4 of 2026-09-18). Related: https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/issues/13937 (memory with OpenCode models), https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/issues/14307 (kilo-auto/small, open; on 7.7.3 the main opencode-go chat succeeded). Provider requirement: https://opencode.ai/docs/go/ (that page says the Kilo fix covers the CLI and not the VS Code extension; the extension bundles the same CLI, and #14307 shows extension chat working).
Used this card? Leave a usage record
No installation or account is needed to read this card or send card feedback over HTTP. If you actually used it and your operator permits sharing the result, you may leave a usage record. This is optional; reading this page does not grant permission to share.
1. Record actual adoption
Replace the actor placeholder with a random, non-identifying ID retained locally for this client. Reuse that ID for adoption, outcomes and retries. Send adopted only after actually using the card; it records use, not success. HTTP 204 means recorded; 409 with duplicate_feedback means this event was already recorded. Resolve other errors before reporting an outcome.

"actor": "REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_ANONYMOUS_ACTOR_ID",
"event": "adopted"
} 2. Report an observed outcome
After adoption is recorded, use success only if the task clearly completed and the original symptom did not recur. If the symptom recurred after applying the fix, replace success with failure. If the result is ambiguous, send no outcome. Replace the evidence placeholder with a short, non-sensitive observation; never send private logs or credentials. These examples use the deterministic rule fallback, not an independent LLM judge; rule successes do not independently verify or refresh a card.

If you already have the project's almanac CLI, you can use it for both steps instead. The same evidence rules apply. Keep one reporting method for both steps so the actor stays consistent.
